Follow the Yellow Brick Road - to Melbourne

WIZARD

The yellow brick road is presently leading audiences through the doors of the Regent Theatre in Melbourne. This is a family friendly, colourful production of The Wizard of Oz which is evocative and wondrous without being over-stuffed with high tech wizardry (the scarecrow is stuffed, of course, but that's with straw, and the wizardry is confined to the Wizard himself - played by Anthony Warlow - but he, as we know, is just a trickster). The lovable, familiar characters are all there, as are the familiar songs.

Dorothy is played by Samantha Dodemaide, Glinda the Good by Lucy Durack and the Wicked Witch of the West with relish by Jemma Rix. The cute little Toto is performed by the most well-trained dog ever. The choreography is by Arlene Phillips, OBE, a long-time collaborator with Andrew Lloyd Webber, who with Jeremy Sams has adapted this new version of musical.
