Last year saw the launch of Australia’s first major choreographic award, the Keir Choreographic Award. Now entries are open for the second round of this biennial competition. Entries close 2 October 2015.
The inaugural Keir Choreographic Award saw right artists commissioned by a national and international jury to each make a new dance work. These were performed at the semi-finals in Melbourne, hosted by Dancehouse. The four finalists then performed at Carriageworks in Sydney, where the major prize of $30 000 was awarded to Melbourne artist Atlanta Eke and the People’s Choice Award to Sydney artist Jane McKernan.
The 2016 competition will again see eight finalists selected for the semi-finals which will be helpd in Melbourne in April 2016, with the top four competing for the $30 000 first prize and $10 000 audience choice prize at the finals in Sydney, in May 2016.
