Last year Expressions Dance Company (EDC) travelled to China to collaborate with Guangdong Modern Dance Company (GMDC). Black, the work they created together under the direction of Hong Kong choreographer Xing Liang, premiered in China.
Now GMDC is coming to Australia and Black will be presented in Brisbane this February, as part of a triple bill that also includes Don’t by EDC and Sumeru by GMDC.
“We were honoured to be flying the flag for Australian dance in China earlier this year, and equally as excited to be welcoming GMDC to Brisbane in February,” remarks EDC artistic director Natalie Weir. “We have incredible respect for GMDC and its highly accomplished Artistic Director Willy Tsao, with whom we have a strong relationship after collaborating in 2010 and 2011 with him and BeijingDance/LDTX.”
