Independent dance collective Phantom Limbs will be presenting a new work Dreamlogic at Northcote Town Hall, 6-10 March.  Blending art and science, Dreamlogic is inspired by by neurological science and how our brains perceive our bodies and the world around it.  The work challenges the limitations of the physical body, asking the question, can our consciousness exist outside our brain’s concept of “the body”?

Choreographers James Welsby and Amy Macpherson have worked with pyschologists and neurologists to prepare Dreamlogic.  By offering spectators elements or snippets of choreography that encourage their minds to fill in the whole picture, Dreamlogic aims to challenge the viewer’s own perception of performance.

Phantom Limbs was founded in 2008 by Welsby and Macpherson. Inspired by their own family member’s challenges with neurological disorders, the collective’s body of work has largely been inspired by psychology and neuro-sciences.
