Applications are now open for the British Council’s Realise Your Dream program. Realise Your Dream is an award aimed at emerging creatives. Over the past ten years, 50 young Australian arts practitioners have been awarded the opportunity to travel to the UK on individually tailored professional development programs as a result of Realise Your Dream.
“Over the last 11 years, Realise Your Dream has recognised 50 emerging creatives, with a list of winners that’s a who’s who of the Australian arts,” Director of the British Council Australia Nick Marchand. “Having made connections, the impact of their trips still plays out in cultural activities and projects across the country. This year, the program has evolved even further. We’ve made it easier to apply and we’ve got many more doors to open in the UK. All we’re missing now – is you!”
Realise Your Dream winners will receive return economy flights to London, courtesy of Virgin Atlantic; a fully tailored professional development program, designed in consultation with each winner; and $5000 spending money for their trip.
In addition to this usual prize, in 2013 the British Council has made improvements by offering a shorter, easier application process, and by including a London-based expert in the arts, to help devise the winners' programs.The 2013 awards night has also been revamped, allowing finalists the opportunity to explain their work in a two-minute pitch to guests.The British Council has added a new category to the Realise Your Dream awards in 2013, the People’s Choice award, allowing members of the public to vote for their favourite finalist.
