After an exacting round of heats, held in each state around the country, the finalists for the the AICD Dance Creation choreographic competition have been announced.

They are Elise May (Qld); Paulina Quinteros (NSW); Lina Limosani and Daniel Jaber (SA) ; Jessie Martin and Isaac Campbell (WA) and Stephen Agisilaou and Rochelle Carmichael (Vic/Tas).

They will each present their winning work at a showcase final at the Malthouse in Melbourne on October 28. They will compete for a number of wonderful prizes, such as presenting their work at the Australian Ballet's Bodytorque choreographic season, or creating a work for Houston Ballet 2, under artistic director Stanton Welch, or a secondment with major Australian dance companies, such as Queensland Ballet and Expressions Dance Company.

Dance Creation was conceived by the artistic director of the Australian Institute of Classical Dance, Marilyn Jones, to encourage and promote a new generation of aspiring Australian choreographers, particularly those with a respect for the classical tradition.
