Time is drawing closer for the announcement of the 2011 Australian Dance Awards, which will be held for the first time in Brisbane this year.
Bangarra Dance Theatre have been nominated along with a group of outstanding dance practitioners.
Kristina Chan (independent), Amy Hollingsworth (SDC), Elise May (Expressions Dance Company] and Larissa McGowan (Australian Dance Theatre) have been nominated in the category of Outstanding Performance by a Female Dancer.
Richard Causer (Expressions), Daniel Gaudiello (Australian Ballet), Paul White (independent) and Kimball Wong (ADT) have been nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Male Dancer.
Awards will be presented in nine categories and a Lifetime Achievement award and a Hall of Fame award will also be presented.
The Awards are the one night of the year when dance creators, performers, educators and enthusiasts gather to acknowledge and honour their peers. It is also a not-to-be-missed opportunity for dance lovers to sample some of the best works of the past 12 months.
