Hofesh Shechter is once again being featured in this year’s Melbourne Festival, following his successful appearance at the festival in 2009.
This time he is performing his first full-length work, the critically acclaimed Political Mother.
Performed by 10 dancers and accompanied by Shechter’s cinematic score, this is “one angry piece, delivered like a roar of defiance in the face of an omnipotent, malevolent force. It’s visceral, painful and very, very exciting”, according to the UK Times.
Other dance events on the program include Double Think, by Byron Perry, Aviary, a Suite for the Birds, by Phillip Adams for Balletlab (both Melbourne based choreographers), and We Came from the East by Jecko Siompo from Indonesia.
