The Melbourne Fringe Festival is happening 16 September to 4 October and there are 22 dance events included in the program!

Amongst the 22 shows are Alice Dixon and Caroline Meaden’s This is What’s Happening Today, Chloe Chignall’s Towards Transparency and Rebecca Jensen's Pose Band.

Towards Transparency destabilizes our grip on reality, merging bodies, material and sound in ways that affect, confuse and move you. An unrelenting transformation of bodies… glistening, pulsing, morphing and disappearing. Towards Transparency creates a choreography of matter, questioning what a body can be. Towards Transparency plays Arts House, Melbourne, 26 September – 3 October.

This is What’s Happening is about what is happening now. From the mundanity of 9 to 5 corporate jobs, to the ignored spluttering of an ailing planet, the multiplicity of life will come together in this new contemporary dance work from Tuesday 29 September – Saturday 3 October, 2015 at Northcote Town Hall as part of the 2015 Melbourne Fringe Festival. A collaboration between dancer-choreographers Alice Dixon and Caroline Meaden alongside performance maker and writer William McBride under the humorous pseudonym Slown, Smallened & Son, This is What’s Happening will create a layer-cake of imagery, rhythm and meaning that speaks to what it is to be alive today.

Like a giant game of ‘dress ups’, Pose Band is an immersive dance performance where performers and audiences are invited to “play pretend” and create the work itself. With no two shows ever the same, audience members will be invited to interact with performers and construct the performance in real time. Roles are allocated to audience members, scripts are read, physical tasks are assigned and a great game of make believe intertwines with contemporary choreography exploring ideas of authenticity and reproduction. Pose Band plays Northcote Town Hall, 29 September to 3 October.
