Amy Hollingsworth will make her choreographic debut in Melbourne this June. Her first work, Two Bars of Isolation, will be presented as part of a season entitled “Every Inch of Me” by Transit Dance Company. The program will also feature a work by Daniel Jaber (Australian Dance Theatre, Daniel Jaber & Dancers) and a work by Paul Malek, artistic director of Transit Dance Company.

Talking about Every Inch of Me, Hollingsworth says, “Two Bars of Isolation is a totally irreverent look at us and our tendencies to self measure our ‘worth’ by a collection of proof – strings of perfect images of our lives as we wish them to look. I’m equally fascinated and terrified by this evergrowing sense of communication replacing community. We are feeling more and more isolated despite ease in connectivity. With Two Bars I wanted to probe gently, and with humour, at this increasing inability to connect through conversation and physical interaction.”

Hollingsworth’s award-winning career as a dancer saw her work with Sydney Dance Company (SDC), Peter Schaufuss Ballet, Royal New Zealand Ballet and Rambert Dance Company. From 2010-2014 she was director of dance at SDC.

Transit Dance Company is a new company and “Every Inch of Me” is its premiere season. Director Paul Malek is excited to be present Hollingsworth’s first choreographic work. "The opportunity to be developing works alongside an artist of [Amy Hollingsworth’s] calibre, presenting her first work on Australian soil, is a truly exciting prospect for all at Transit Dance Company, "

Transit Dance Company will present "Every Inch of Me" at Arts House, Melbourne from 20-26 June and Salamanca Arts Centre, Hobart 27-28 June.
