Sydney has a new theatre company, National Theatre of Parramatta, and the first two productions of its 2016 season are directed by choreographers. The first, Swallow, is by Kate Champion, and the second, Stolen, by Vicki Van Hout.

National Theatre of Parramatta was launched on 19 November. The company aims to reflect contemporary Australia and Western Sydney in all its diversity and complexity. As well as presenting new work, National Theatre of Parramatta will champion artist development, educational opportunities and mentoring programs. National Theatre of Parramatta is resident at Riverside Theatres.
