Wednesday 23 October is World Ballet Day.

In celebration, The Australian Ballet will join forces with 31 dance companies from around the world, including the Royal Ballet and the Bolshoi Ballet, for World Ballet Live. Run online via live streaming, this event gives audiences a chance to see behind the scenes of leading dance companies. This year’s theme is “Every Body Can Dance”.

The Australian Ballet will stream live on Facebook, YouTube and WeChat, broadcasting from The Australian Ballet HQ and Federation Square in Melbourne, with free performance and workshops taking place throughout the day. This is the first time that fans will be able to join in the celebrations in person. For details head to The Australian Ballet’s Facebook Page

West Australian Ballet will also be celebrating World Ballet Day, with a live stream of rehearsals for the company’s upcoming season of Alice (in wonderland) that will take place between 11.30am and 12pm, Wednesday 23 October. Head to WAB’s Facebook Page for more info.

Queensland Ballet will be streaming live on Facebook for World Ballet Day from 1pm AEST / 2pm AEDT on Wednesday 23 October.  Starting with class taught by Artistic Director Li Cunxin, QB will then take viewers into the studio to watch rehearsals for its upcoming "Bespoke" season as well as rehearsals for Cinderella in preparation for the company's tour to Canberra. In keeping with this year’s theme is ‘Every Body Can Dance’ there will also be a sneak peek into one of the company's Community Classes, Foundations and Beyond.
