The Fast+Fresh Youth Dance Festival is open for entries.

Following the success of its 2011 season, Fast+Fresh Dance returns in November to delight audiences and showcase short dance works choreographed and performed by Sydney’s finest young talent.

FORM Dance Projects is calling young choreographers and dancers to participate in Fast+Fresh Dance, to be held at Riverside Theatres Parramatta. The season will present over 40 dance works choreographed and performed by emerging artists.

A part of the Short+Sweet family of festivals, Fast+Fresh Dance is in its fourth year and presents short, new and innovative dance works, up to five minutes in length. There are three heat nights, judged nightly by a panel of industry professionals. The heat winners will present their works as part of the Gala Final on Saturday 17 November, 2012.

Following the Short+Sweet tradition, all participants in Fast+Fresh Dance are eligible for sponsored awards such as Best Male Dancer, Best Female Dancer, Most Outstanding Choreography, Best New Talent and the Audience Choice Award.

This year will see the return of sponsors Ausdance NSW, Sydney Dance Company and Dance Australia magazine - all offering great prizes to our winners. In keeping with the vibe of the festival, there are also professional secondments and filming sessions on offer, including with Dance Makers Collective and Cheese on Toast Productions.

The philanthropic community arts organisation Ars Musica Australis is also on board as a sponsor this year and has generously offered cash prizes for the Best Choreographer, Best Male Dancer and Best Female Dancer awards. Ars Musica Australis develops and supports talented young Australians who are seeking to further their skills and involvement in the creative and performing arts.

Many participants of 2011’s season of Fast+Fresh Dance have gone on to perform with professional companies. One such rising star is Anja Mujic who performed at the Sydney Festival in Loungers with youMove, Western Sydney’s professional contemporary dance company. Mujic is still a member of youMove company, and this year performed works by Anton and Kay Armstrong as part of youMove’s education programs.

FORM Dance Projects is now seeking submissions from young choreographers and dancers to participate in this year’s season. All genres of dance will be considered, as long as the choreography is innovative and original. This year DVD Submissions are preferred.

To enter go to www.form.org.au and download an application form.

DVD entries close Monday 15 October, 2012. Showing day 19 October, 2012
