Registrations are open for Indigenous choreographers to be part of Dana Waranara Convergence, from 8-10 December 2015 at the Judith Wright Centre for Contemporary Arts in Brisbane.
Presented by BlakDance and Performing Lines, Dana Waranara will bring together Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander choreographers and presenters to develop a rich understanding of practice and needs to generate creative development and presentation opportunities. “What’s really exciting about this project is its focus on innovative producing, presenting, audience development and touring models,” says BlakDance executive director Merindah Donnelly. “We’re deliberately undergoing a process that will see presenters collaborating with artists from the beginning of a project ensuring that protocols and ethics are Indigenous led from day one.”
