Burn The Floor will dedicate a special Sydney performance of its new production LUMINOUS to supporting Australians with hearing and vision loss, announcing a charity partnership with NextSense for its September appearance at Coliseum Theatre.
The Charity Gala will be held at the Rooty Hill venue on Saturday 26 September, with $10 from every ticket sold donated directly to NextSense. Television personalities and dancers Tristan MacManus and Kym Johnson will host the evening.
The event brings a philanthropic dimension to the Australian tour of LUMINOUS, the latest production from the international ballroom company. Directed and choreographed by Jason Gilkison, the show brings together an international cast of dancers with live music, drawing on Ballroom and Latin styles alongside contemporary theatrical staging.
For Burn The Floor producer Harley Medcalf, the partnership reflects the company’s long history of bringing audiences together through dance.
“We’re incredibly proud that this special performance will not only entertain audiences, but also help raise awareness and support the extraordinary work NextSense does every day,” Medcalf said.
NextSense works with children, adults and families affected by hearing and vision loss, providing specialist education, therapy, research and clinical services. The organisation has operated for more than 160 years and is now Australia’s largest provider of cochlear implant services.
Coliseum Theatre General Manager Trish Charan said the venue was pleased to support the partnership and help bring greater awareness to NextSense’s work.

The gala comes during a significant year for Burn The Floor, which has performed in more than 180 cities across 30 countries since its beginnings more than 25 years ago. LUMINOUS continues the company’s evolution of ballroom for the theatrical stage, placing technical precision, athleticism and the personalities of its dancers at the centre of the production.
For audiences, the September performance offers the full LUMINOUS experience while directing part of every ticket purchase towards NextSense’s work with people and families across Australia.
