Behind every performance is a bevy of unseen but talented people who are essential to getting the show on the stage – or on the road. Who are these people who are content to stay out of the limelight? We dug out just a few of them.
Noelene Hill - Wardrobe Production Manager and Resident Designer, Queensland Ballet
“I love the immediacy of performance, and the fact that it’s live. Even though months of work go into creating a production, the audience has a feeling that it’s been created right then in the moment, just for them. When all the elements come together successfully it’s magical, and it’s a tremendous thrill when the audience are moved, ” says Noelene Hill.
Hill was born in Sydney. “Around the age of 11 I announced to my mother that I wanted to learn how to make clothes. After much frustration and cursing the sewing machine for not doing what I wanted it to I managed to create an outfit that was featured in the local paper along with several other young ladies’ creations. The caption cited us as ‘future designers’.”
