The Australian Ballet (AB) will kick off its 2013 Melbourne season this February with the return of “Telstra Ballet in the Bowl”.   As the name suggests, the free, outdoor performance will be held at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl, Friday 8 March.

The program will be comprised of a selection of ballet’s “greatest hits”,  including excerpts from Don Quixote and Swan Lake.  The AB will be accompanied by Orchestra Victoria.

It is the first time in five years that Telstra Ballet in the Bowl has been staged in Melbourne and the AB’s artistic director, David McAllister, is excited, exclaiming,  “The Sidney Myer Music Bowl is one of Melbourne’s iconic stages and we relish the chance to dance there – even more so when we can share ballet with our fans for free!”

Although the event is free it is ticketed.  To register for tickets go to ticketmaster.com.au from Friday 15 February 2013.
