TEN talented Australian students will be travelling to New York soon to compete in the annual international competition, Youth America Grand Prix.
The competition runs from April 22-26 and is open to students aged nine to 19 from around the world. The Australian students applied successfully by DVD.
Now in its 13th year, the competition awards scholarships to leading dance schools. It always finishes with a spectacular gala featuring exciting guest artists – this year the gala will honour ballerina legend, Natalia Makarova.
The lucky Australians are: Montana Rubin (14) and Jade Shubitz (12) both from The Dance Spot in Sydney, NSW);
Isobelle Dashwood (14) from Dance Central, Toowoomba, Qld), Abby Kent (14) from Promenade Dance Studio, Kedron, Qld and Alysha Martignago (14) from the Queensland Dance Performance College (all three also train with Brisbane City Youth Ballet artistic director Janine McGrath;
Grace Robinson (16), Emily Seymour (14) and Joel Paulin (15), all from the Tanya Pearson Classical Coaching Academy in Sydney,
Vanessa Morelli (18) and Bethany Headland (18), from Ballet Theatre Australia, Victoria.
