This week is Australian Dance Week and Ausdance WA is celebrating with various events. The week kicked off with Act-Belong-Commit DANCE DAY, a free dance show that featured performances from youth dance companies, dance studios, secondary schools, community dance groups and cultural dance groups.

Ausdance WA will also be screening dance films in the Perth Cultural Centre every day until Friday, between 4 and 6pm. The films feature popular, contemporary, cultural and regional dance performance projects by WA artists.

Finishing off the week will be "Trigger", a large-scale interactive dance event. Essentially an outdoor disco party, "Trigger" lets participants nominate the playlist and uses interactive software to project their dancing bodies onto an LED screen in a variety of cartoon-like forms. Both trained and untrained dancers are encouraged to experiment while watching their avatar selves on the screen. "Trigger" is currently taking track nominations for the event and participants can nominate their songs via social media by posting with #triggersong or by emailing Amy, Ausdance WA’s project manager, po.wa@ausdance.org.au
