Australasian Dance Collective will bring its triple bill THREE back to Brisbane Powerhouse this month, presenting two new commissions and a Queensland premiere across a limited season from 15 to 18 July.
Now in its fourth iteration, THREE has become a key platform within ADC’s programming, bringing together distinct choreographic voices and giving the company’s ensemble a range of new artistic terrain to inhabit. This year’s program features world premieres by Amber McCartney and Wiradjuri choreographer Joel Bray, alongside the Queensland debut of Harrison Ritchie-Jones’s acclaimed duet CUDDLE, performed with Michaela Tancheff.
ADC Artistic Director and CEO Amy Hollingsworth said the program has become known for its breadth of ideas and its role in supporting the development of new work.
“Since 2021, THREE has provided audiences with an opportunity to experience a breadth and depth of artistic voices from across the Australian and international contemporary dance landscape,” Hollingsworth said. “In 2026, we’re proud to bring together a triptych of exceptional Australian talent, showcasing the creativity, skill and versatility of our Company Artists.”
McCartney, known for visceral and highly physical work, returns to THREE with a new commission that blurs the line between human and alien. Ritchie-Jones’s CUDDLE brings what ADC describes as an immersive collision of absurdity, humour and fierce physicality, while Bray’s new work offers a more meditative exploration of the ways humans experience time.
The season also points to the broader life of works developed through ADC’s commissioning pipeline. Following the Brisbane season, the company will tour to China with Alisdair Macindoe’s Dull Boy and Melanie Lane’s Glass Teeth, both of which emerged through ADC’s investment in new choreographic work.
THREE plays at the Powerhouse Theatre, Brisbane Powerhouse, from Wednesday 15 to Saturday 18 July 2026. The program contains partial nudity, adult themes, strobe and high-pressure sound levels, and is suitable for audiences aged 12 and over.
