Auditions are now underway for the latest in television dance competitions, called Everybody Dance Now.

Beginning in Brisbane last Saturday, the auditions will be held nationally, moving onto Adelaide, Perth, Melbourne and Sydney.

Produced by FremantleMedia Australia in association with Network Ten, the show has a prize pool of more than $450,000 – the largest prize package ever for an entertainment show.

The search is for “the most entertaining dance act in Australia”.

“From belly dance to ballet, ballroom to burlesque, pole dancing to popping and locking, hip hop to highland and from the brilliant to the bizarre, we’re looking for Australian dancers of all ages and all styles,” the press release states. “Everybody is welcome and we’re looking for solo dancers, duos and groups – professional and amateur.”

Everybody Dance Now, which will screen later this year, starts with 120 acts competing head-to-head in a series of dance duels in front of a studio audience. Divided into two teams of 60, each team will be taken under the guidance of a big name entertainment celebrity to do battle in a colosseum-style duel.

Each night, one act will dance their way to $10,000 and secure their place in the finals to compete for the ultimate cash prize of $250,000.
