A new arts event for Campbelltown, Western Sydney, scheduled to take place in 2016, has just been launched by Campelltown Arts Centre. As of 9 March, five artists have begun creative collaborations with local businesses and community groups in Cambelltown’s main street, Queen Street. It’s a three-week residency which will see the artists research and explore the area, in preparation for the two-day event in 2016, which will comprise mass actions, pranks and performances. Entitled Swarm, the project will continue to be developed over a 12 month period and aims to explore and celebrate contemporary culture in Campbelltown.

Swarm is collaborated by interdisciplinary company Branch Nebula, whose work often involves dance/physical theatre/movement. One of the five artists is Bhenji Ra, a NSW-based dance and interdisciplinary artist. Ra intends to create a dance work for Swarm that will reclaim public spaces and make visible the diversity of identities within these spaces.

The other artisis inclide Denis Beaubois (NSW), Matthew Prest (NSW), Amala Groom (NSW) and Tania El Khoury (UK/Lebanon).
