Melbourne Ballet Company’s latest production, by artistic director and resident choreographer Simon Hoy, is inspired by Greek mythology. The work is entitled Archè, which, in Greek mythology, is associated with beginnings and the force that explains the origins of life. Archè also draws on the emotion, line and silhouette of the swan within Greek mythology and Irish folklore, drawing inspiration from works such as Yeats’s “Leda and the Swan”, Swan Lake and The Dying Swan. Arche is set to music by Joan Jeanrenaud, Ennio Morricone and Ludovico Finaudi.

Arche will be presented at Hawthorn Arts Centre, Friday 17 and Sunday 19 July. For more info, including bookings, head to www.hawthornartscentre.com.au/event/arche
