Australian Dance Theatre (ADT) is holding auditions for its Youth Ensemble on Wednesday 21 January.
The ADT Youth Ensemble is for dancers ages 15-19. It gives young dancers technical and artistic training, and performance experience at festivals and events.
Elizabeth Old, ADT associate artistic director says that the Youth Ensemble is about giving young dancers industry experience. “It is essential for young dancers to know how to stand out from the crowd in this highly competitive industry, she comments. “There are simply scores of young dancers in training at numerous institutions across Australia with a very limited number of jobs on offer. Excellent training, effective professional style, performance opportunities and a good CV, even at a young age, make all the difference. This is what we aim to give them to develop their professional dancing career.”
To audition, applicants must:
- Be aged between 15-19 years old (as at 30 Jan 2015);
- Perform at an intermediate/advanced level in contemporary dance;
- Be athletic, resilient, quick thinking, and passionate about dance and movement research.
Although not mandatory an intermediate or advanced level in classical ballet is preferable.
