The Aboriginal Centre for Performing Arts (ACPA) will head to QPAC to present its end of year production, Blak Electric.  Conceived and directed by Stephen Lloyd Helper, Blak Electric combines theatre, dance and music to tell the story of three young Indigenous people living in urban Brisbane.  Each is confronting preconceived notions about what it means to be a young Indigenous Australian in 2014.

Featuring more than forty ACPA students, and a live band on stage, Blak Electric’s score includes songs by Earth Wind and Fire, Paul Simon, Marcus Corowa, Stevie Wonder, as well as songs/music from ACPA writers Manduway Dutton, Jay Bushby, Leonard Donahue, Liam Talty, Dimple Bani and Gustacious.

Blak Electric is choreographed by Katie Dickens and Nik Hills.  ACPA’s head of dance is Bradley Chatfield, renowned for his work with Sydney Dance Company, as well as Dancenorth.
