Short+Sweet Dance is a festival that invites emerging choreographers and dancers to present ten-minute dance works. The first Short+Sweet Dance was held in Sydney in 2007, under the direction of Olivia Ansell. It’s been growing ever since and there are now Short&Sweet Dance festivals in Melbourne and Canberra too.
Short+Sweet Dance is all about providing opportunities for choreographers, dancers and directors to present independent work and network. "Short+Sweet Dance is an amazing opportunity to be mentored, to network with other artists, and to get some exposure as a dancer or choreographer," says Short&Sweet Melbourne producer Merrilee McCoy. Participants also have the chance to win awards, such as Most Outstanding Choreography, Best New Talent, Most Promising Male/Female Dancer and the People’s Choice Award.
Applications for Short&Sweet Dance in Melbourne close at midnight, Monday 17 September 2012.
