This year’s Victorian State Schools Spectacular will see over 3000 Victorian students from over 200 government schools converge at Hisense Arena to present a song and dance extravaganza. Entitled “What’s Your Story?” this production will mark the 20th anniversary of the event.
The Victorian State Schools Spectacular began life in 1995 as a biennial production to provide arts opportunities to Victorian government school students. In 2011 the event became annual and is now one of the largest recurring productions in Australia.
This year’s performance will bring together student circus performers, musicians, skaters, singers and dancers. Behind the scenes, students also work on audio, lighting and video production, stage management, costume making, make up, photography and graphic design. Alice in Wonderland, a Steampunk Fairground, Beyonce, Daft Punk and an orchestral rendition of The Great Gate of Kiev will come together via storytelling and performance.
