Adelaide’s Restless Dance Theatre, a company for dancers with a disability, will join forces with three other similar companies for its latest production.

The Restless Youth Ensemble dancers will combine with No Strings Attached Theatre of Disability, Tutti Inc and Company@ to stage Howling Like a Wolf – a thought provoking, filmic dance theatre work “exploring human expression and communication”.

The inspiration for the show came from cast member Eleni Androutsis (a performer from Company@, which works with people with Autism Spectrum Disorder). During a rehearsal she was asked to express an emotion on her face, like a statue. Presented with the word “love”, Eleni struck a pose of a wolf howling at the moon.

Restless Dance Theatre has run workshop programs and created remarkable dance theatre by young people with and without a disability for over 21 years. In 2010 and 2011 the company won a host of national and international awards including gongs at the Australian Dance Awards and the Brooklyn International Film Festival for their film Necessary Games.

Philip Channells has recently resigned to pursue other opportunities in the dance sector. Roz Hervey has been employed as artistic manager until the company appoints a new artistic director.

Restless Dance Theatre will be calling for applications for the position of artistic director in the near future.

'Howling like a Wolf' will be performed at Queens Theatre from August 17 to 25.
