West Australian Ballet is preparing to bring Cinderella back to the stage. Choreographed by WAB principal dancer Jayne Smeulders in 2011, this Cinderella is set in the 1930’s. Cinderella’s downtrodden life as a servant to her selfish and vain stepsisters changes on the evening of the palace ball, when her Fairy Godmother appears and casts a spell that will transform her life forever. The Prokofiev score will be played by West Australian Philharmonic Orchestra.

Smeulders’s Cinderella is resplendent with sparkle and enchantment. "It's definitely a real fairy-tale and has that magical look to it,” remarks Smeulders. “It's very much a family-oriented show. There's nothing out of the box about it and I'm happy with that.”

Ahead of the season, WAB will also be supporting Telethon by hosting a special Meet and Greet with Cinderella and her Prince in Perth’s Forrest Place on Friday 2 October. By making a gold coin donation to Telethon, members of the public can have a photo with the cast and Cinderella’s glittering carriage.

Cinderella opens 20 November at His Majesty’s Theatre, Perth. For booking info head to waballet.com.au
