Melbourne’s new classical troupe, JACK Productions, is combining with the chamber music group Ensemble Liaison for its next production.

JACK was founded by award-winning choreographer Lucas Jervies and three senior dancers from the Australian Ballet: Robert Curran, Andrew Killian and Laura Tong. It is dedicated to producing dance that is genuinely innovative and explores the vast possibilities of classical ballet technique.

“I was hypnotised by the sumptuous physicality of Ensemble Liaison the first time I saw them perform live. The unconscious and passionate movements that propel their live performances will be the building blocks of the dancers’ choreography,” says Lucas Jervies

The chamber ballet features the passionate songs of Manuel de Falla, whose Six Songs are interwoven with Love the Magician arranged by Ensemble Liaison. The essence of the collaboration is about building on the instinct to get up and dance to music. Jervies wants to bridge the relationship between the musicians and dancers through his choreography.

The “chamber ballet” is on for one night only: Thursday August 18 at the Melbourne Recital Centre. Book at: www.melbournerecital.com.au or call the Box Office on 03 9699 3333.
