Professional theatrical designers and makers are invited to apply for the Kristian Fredrikson Scholarship for Design in the Performing Arts.

The scholarship has been created as an ongoing memorial to one of Australia’s most distinguished performing arts designers, the late Kristian Fredrikson. His 40-year career encompassed ballet, opera, contemporary dance, theatre, film and television.

The scholarship will provide $10,000 biennially to assist an Australian designer or maker to study overseas. Applicants must have completed a minimum of five professional productions or have demonstrated a proven record of professional activity over at least three years. The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate a strong level of originality, creativity, technical skills, commitment to their profession and the viability of their study plan.

Applications open October 1, 2011 and close December 1, 2011.

The successful applicant will be announced in April 2012 at the Greenroom awards (Victoria)
