Trained at: Adelaide College of the Arts
Presently: Dancer with Lewis Major Projects
Studying full-time at Adelaide College of the Arts was a transformative time in my development not only s a dancer but also a person. One of the most valuable lessons I learnt was the importance of committing to long-term growth. I developed patience, discipline and resilience by embracing the slow and sometimes challenging nature of training
There were moments of doubt but over time I learnt to trust the process and respect where I was each day even when progress felt slow.
Physically, the demands were intense. I had to learn how to fuel my body properly, manage energy across long rehearsal days and build recovery into my routine. Exercise, consistent warm-ups and cool-downs and listening to my body became essential. Rather than pushing through fatigue, I learnt how to work with my body a mindset shift that’s allowed me to dance more sustainably and confidently.
One of the most impactful aspects of my time at AC Arts was the community. Being surrounded by passionate, driven artists both peers and teachers , created a space where creativity and individuality were encouraged. I found that I grew most when learning alongside others, sharing feedback, and celebrating each other’s progress. It reminded me that dance is a deeply collaborative art form and that shared energy can elevate the work we create.
To those considering full-time dance studies, show up with curiosity, be open to change, and don’t be afraid to ask questions. Growth isn’t always linear, but every part of the process matters.
