The Brisbane Festival has announced its program for 2021, with some of the state's top local dance companies among its highlights.

Karul Projects, Brisbane's Indigenous performing arts company, will present Weredingo, choreographed by company co-founder, Thomas E.S. Kelly. The work promises "Karul’s signature sharp movement, combined with text, song, and projections, Weredingo challenges what you think you know about shapeshifting".

Dancenorth will be travelling south from Townsville to present RED, a program that was forced to close immediately after its premiere performance at Melbourne's Rising Festival earlier in the year.

Also in the line-up is the Queensland premiere of Joel Bray's Considerable Sexual Licence, described as "a flirty, filthy and passionate look at the true history of sensuality ‘down under’."

Australian Dance Collective is presenting Forgery, developed by award-winning choreographer and creative coder, Alisdair Macindoe. And the Queensland Ballet is appealing to families with its Peter and the Wolf, performed to the famous Prokofiev score by the company's Jette Parker Young Artists and choreographed by Greg Horsman.
