Sturt - in-situ

STRUT Dance in Perth has embarked on an innovative new partnership with the Fremantle Biennale. Through STRUT’s Place Makers WA program, members of the contemporary group are being invited to apply for two places to create a new work for this year’s "site-responsive" contemporary art festival.

The successful applicants will receive $12,500 each to go towards the creative development, production and presentation of a new work, as well as production, marketing and other support. The creative development will take place from September 27 to November 10 with performances through November. EOI's close soon: for information and key dates, go here.

In the more immediate future, however, STRUT Dance’s annual season of original site-specific works remains a unique opportunity for independent artists to explore an exciting model of presenting independent choreography in enticing and unexpected locations.

Called Situ-8: Hotel, this year’s iteration features choreographers Mitchell Aldridge; Georgia Van Gils, Celina Hage & Nikki Tarling, Rhiana Katz and May Greenberg. They are joined by composers Azariah Felton, Rachael Dease, Felicity Groom and Stephen de Filippo & Kane Tenadii-Hay. The season is produced by Serena Chalker and Geordie Crawley and will be held at the Alex Hotel in Perth.

Dates: August 26-28
