GODAI (earth, water, fire, wind & void)

GODAI

DanceBourne Arts presents its third annual premiere Godai, a programme of five independent dance works.

Godai takes its name from the Japanese spiritual system built on five great universal elements: earth, water, fire, wind and void. These five elements are interpreted in Godai with classical, contemporary and traditional eastern dance responses.

Earth, by Rochelle Carmichael, is inspired by the magnitude of gravity. Music by Zoe Keating. Water, by Luanne Hyson, connects ideas of emotion, defensiveness and adaptability. Music by Claude Debussy.

Fire, by Kathleen Skipp, counterpoints forms of passion and energy. Original music by Josh Mitchell.

Wind, by Anne Butler, challenges ideas of willingness and benevolence to music by Ludovico Einaudi.

Void, by Nakarin Jaikla, experiments with concepts of power, spontaneity and creativity. Original music by Numpark Sribanditmongkol .
