We have 10 doubles passes to give away to see a screening of The Australian Ballet’s The Merry Widow, which will be showing in cinemas around Australia and New Zealand from November 3.
Irresistibly frothy and lavishly theatrical, The Merry Widow has enough tangled affairs, narrow misses and jealous lovers to fuel a French farce. Based on the beloved operetta, this lively tale is set in the ballrooms and salons of Belle Époque Paris and is dressed magnificently in velvets, silks, spangles and feathers. Created especially for The Australian Ballet, The Merry Widow is a laugh-along favourite with Franz Lehar hum-along melodies and its heart on its sleeve.
In the 2018 season of The Merry Widow, Adam Bull performs the role of Count Danilo, Amber Scott is the wealthy Hanna Glawari and three legends of The Australian Ballet return to the stage in character roles: Colin Peasley, a foundation member of the company; Artistic Director David McAllister; and beloved former principal artist (now the company’s ballet master) Steven Heathcote.
It is playing in 76 cinemas across Australia and New Zealand for limited screenings from Saturday 3 November. To find a full list of cinemas visit www.cinemalive.com
