History

Today ATOD is experiencing unprecedented growth in membership. Members are now based throughout Australia, Canada, South East Asia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and Europe.

STYLES COVERED

Classical Ballet, National Character, Tap, Street Tap, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Contemporary, Musical Theatre and early childhood development.

GRADING SYSTEM

ATOD supports dance for all ages. Levels range from play dance curriculum for the pre-school age group through to  ATOD’s comprehensive Teacher Training Program in all genre.

MARKING AND ASSESSMENT

ATOD offers examinations and/or assessments for all grades and levels. On successful completion of examinations, students receive a comprehensive written report, certificate and medal, together with a mark from Pass through to Honours with Distinction. Pre-school age students receive an assessment certificate and medal.

TEACHER QUALIFICATIONS

As a Registered Training Organisation (RTO), ATOD offers:

  • Cert III in Assistant Dance Teaching,
  • Cert IV Dance Teaching & Management,
  • Diploma in Dance Teaching & Management

as well as the opportunity to attain ATOD’s Associate, Member and Licentiate qualifications.

COMPETITIONS AND AWARDS

ATOD is committed to supporting its community in a tangible way, and this is now being realised through scholarships and  bursaries. In 2018 ATOD will gift over $80,000 to current and past students and members. Each year ATOD holds competitions and scholarships throughout Australia. The prestigious ATOD Australasian Energetiks Scholarship, will be held in Melbourne in July 2018.

OTHER ACTIVITIES

The “Come Together” Biennial Dance Teachers Convention will once again be held in 2018 in Queensland. ATOD is  facilitating this event for all dance teachers, no matter their organisation affiliation. All organisations are welcome to exhibit.
