Students may continue academic studies at a secondary school or by distance education.
Melbourne Conservatoire of Ballet is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) with Full-Time and Half-Day courses nationally accredited by the Australian Skills Quality Authority. MCB is also CRICOS registered to provide higher education to International students.
Main subjects:
Classical, pointe, repertoire, pas de deux, contemporary, boys coaching, character dance, performance, fitness and other related dance styles and industry practice.
Practical dance classes per week:
Classes range from 17 to 25 classes.
Contact hours per day:
4 to 6 hours per day.
Pre-Requisites/ entry requirements:
Intermediate to advanced level of ballet technique including strong pointe work for all female auditionees.
Main teachers:
John Sandurski, Valmai Roberts, Chiara Ferri, Stacey McCallum, Melanie Moravski-Dechnicz and Nickely Burke with regular guest teachers throughout the year.
Audition date:
Between September and November. Auditions during the year are arranged privately. Zoom auditions are also available.
Audition requirements:
Entry to all courses is by audition consisting of a practical dance class and comprehensive interview. A photograph in ballet attire and a medical certificate must be submitted with an audition fee prior to the audition.
Fees:
From $1,550 per term.
Scholarships or subsidies:
Students who possess exceptional talent may be offered a tuition scholarship.
Possible career options:
MCB Prepares students for careers in both national and International professional classical ballet and dance companies.
